In the movie, Alice clearly says that she saw Bella turning into a vampire, that it was okay, however she does NOT seem to see Bella leaving them. In the book, she apparently sees something having to do with the whole ordeal, right? After all, she gets another vision and says Bella's name under her breath.
Why DIDN'T Alice stop Bella? Why didn't she try harder to keep Bella with her instead of sending her off with Jasper? Did she really think that Bella turning into a vampire would be the best?
And does Alice really partake in the attack on James to kill him? From the book, I got that she was beside Bella the entire time.

I was also under the impression that she stuck by Bella's side after Bella's attack. I'm fairly certain that Edward tells Bella in the hospital that Jasper & Emmett were the ones to take care of James & then had to step out due to the blood.
I think that Alice DID see Bella going to the ballet studio & the attack that ensued. Hence the whole name muttering thing. Once Bella made up her mind, Alice would have seen the future change.
I'm just as lost as you are though as to why she didn't do anything to prevent it. UNLESS she saw Bella being bit, bit but not drained, and REALLY wanted her to be her Vampire bestie sooner rather than later.
I got nothin.

You know how somethings are just meant to happen? Maybe she let her go because she knew James wouldn't kill her and that Bella would lead them to him, allowing them to kill him. Huh, IDK though.
